When you look at a map of where Jason Kenny, Alec Rodway and Tony Harding grew up, you can form a triangle. In the game of basketball, triangles are used all the time on offense or defense to explain and create plays.
The Misericordia University Men’s Basketball Team is very good this year. Part of the reason is because of a best friendship between 3 players. Alec Rodway, Jason Kenny, and Tony Harding have all been friends before college. “It’s always easier knowing your teammates outside of playing basketball”, says Rodway.
The chemistry on the court is always stronger when you grow up with your team mates.Alec Rodway is from Valley View, Jason Kenny is from Mid Valley, and Tony Harding is from Lakeland. All local kids. It’s very rare to get the chance to play college athletics with good friends. Jason Kenny and Alec Rodway grew up together and would play ball in the park. In high school they both met Tony Harding, and now they are all playing ball in college.
Rodway and Kenny are both juniors and Harding is a sophomore. “My favorite thing about the team is the locker room talk”, says Kenny. It becomes like more of a family setting and makes the games easier. “It’s more than just basketball when you are playing with best friends”, says Harding.
With these three anchoring the team, it’s hard to beat these guys. Misericordia is 17-10 and they won their conference championship. The Cougars play Wittenberg on Friday, March 2nd in the NCAA tournament.
