It has been a pretty solid season for the Marywood Women’s Basketball Team. At 13-11 and 10-4 in league play, Marywood will be the 4th seed in Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament. It has been a very up and down season for the team this year.
They are very fast team that relies strictly on fast break offense and man to man defense. They are very fun team to watch.
Head Coach Tara Macciocco has coaching in her blood. She recently just achieved her 204th victory at the school. Her father, Ross, was a coach for 35 years. He compiled an astonishing 659 wins with Dunmore and Scranton Prep. Tara has high praise for her father, “He taught me everything I know about the game, and he also coached me in high school”. Tara is clearly the right person to bring prominence to Marywood University because she learned from the best.
“The team is very fast and there are a lot of individual goals being reached”, says Coach Tara.
It has been a season full of individual records. Junior Tasha Hessling need just 17 more rebounds to 500 in her career, Freshman Erika Bistran just set Marywood’s school record for 3 pointers made in a season and is currently in the top 30 in the country for 3’s made. Finally, Junior Gab Giordano scored her 1000th point during the season.
It’s been a very fun season for the Marywood Lady Pacers and the future of the program is very bright.
