University of Scranton Lady Royals improve to 22-1 after beating Catholic 62-43

February 11, 2018

He stresses defense and toughness. Head Coach Trevor Woodruff of the Scranton Lady Royals has had one of the more difficult years  with knee injuries, broken fingers, plantar fasciitis, mono, and bronchitis. Don’t for a second think that’s going to keep this team down.

Historically one of the best defensive basketball programs in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Coach Woodruff stresses defense and seniors Katy Broderick and Katie Feehery set the tone. He also commends both Broderick and Feehery for being very welcoming to the younger players. The lady Royals are now 22-1 on the season, leading the way in the Landmark Conference, and have already avenged their only loss against Juanita College. Junior point guard, Bridgett Mann leads the way offensively with 15 points a games. Even after all the setbacks, the injuries and the sicknesses, it doesn’t seem anything can deny this team from their winning ways.

After last years campaign ended with a 26-4 record, winning seems to be all this team knows. According to Coach Woodruff, “Our team’s biggest strength is chemistry”. Well this team definitely is like a well-oiled machine. Perseverance and true determination has the Lady Royals poised for yet another Landmark Championship and quite possibly one of the best seasons Coach Woodruff has ever seen.
